Michele H. Michalak, 89, of Hamilton passed away Sunday at her home. She was born on September 20, 1920 in Lodz, Poland.
In 1941, at age 21, she was taken to a work camp in Germany. In 1956, she came to the USA living in Trenton, moving to Hamilton in 1962, and working for Blakely Laundry until her retirement in 1985. In 1990, she went back to work for Pennington Quality Market full time for 10 years. From 2000 until 2009, she worked Saturdays at Pennington Quality Market distributing sample products to customers.
Everyone knew Michele’s smiling face.
Daughter of the late Antoni and Antonina Spychalski, sister of the late Marian, Bronislawa and Zofia, she is survived by her daughter, Barbara Wojtczuk with whom she lived; her granddaughter, Lisa and her husband William Gervasi of Chesterfield. Also many nieces and nephews in Poland.
Funeral Friday 10:45am from the M. William Murphy Funeral Home, 1863 Hamilton Ave., Hamilton. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Hedwig’s Church at 11:30AM celebrated by family friend Fr. Timothy Capewell. Burial will be in St. Hedwig’s Cemetery, Ewing. Visiting hours will be Thursday from 6 to 8pm and Friday from 9:30 until 10:45am at the funeral home.
