Dorothy H. Delaney Burns
Dorothy H. Delaney Burns, 87, of West Trenton was called by her God on Thursday at Chandler Hall Health Service in Newtown, PA.

Born in Jersey City to Irish immigrant parents, she was a graduate of Henry Snyder High School in the city’s Greenville section. She lived in the Ewing area since the 1960s.

During her career as a judicial secretary, Mrs. Burns served a number of distinguished jurists in the Appellate Division of the Superior Court of New Jersey, including the Hon. John Lynch and Hon. Robert Matthews. Working in these halls during the late 1940s, she met her husband of 60 years, an aspiring law student named Vincent Burns.

Mrs. Burns was devoted to her family. She was a cultured woman with a passion for art, music, dance and travel. She was also an avid reader, and a woman of great faith.

Daughter of the late John J. and Elizabeth Brady Delaney, wife of the late Vincent J. Burns, Sr. Esq., sister of the late Robert V Delaney, John Delaney Jr., Rita Dillon, Florence Devlin, and Catherine Yurkavich, she is survived by her son, Vincent John Burns; several nieces and nephews from the Delaney family and a niece from the Burns family.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday 11am at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 137 W. Upper Ferry Rd., West Trenton, NJ. Burial will be in Ewing Church Cemetery, Ewing. Viewing will be at the church Wednesday from 10 until time of mass.
