Ann H. Convery, widow of J. Ferd Convery, Jr., was the daughter of Alice Collette Cunningham and Albert Trout Holcombe, and was born on March 30, 1922 in Lambertville, New Jersey. She was educated at Blessed Sacrament School and Cathedral High School, with one year at Mt. St Agnes Junior College in Baltimore, Maryland. She worked at New Jersey Manufacturers Insurance Company until her marriage in 1945 to J. Ferd Convery, Jr.Ann then joined her husband in his family-owned furnishing and decorating business, where she was responsible for newspaper and radio advertising. She and her husband survived the 1968 riot-induced fire which burned the furniture store to the ground. They rebuilt the three-generation family business in a new location on Route 1, Trenton, New Jersey.Active socially and in the Trenton business community, Ann was a board member for the local Junior League, the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra, the Catholic Welfare Bureau, the Union Industrial Home for Children, and the Board of Directors of the St. Lawrence Rehabilitation Center following her term on the St. Lawrence Women’s Service Board. Ann was a member of the Garden Club of Trenton, an affiliate of the Garden Club of America. She served a term as Chairman of the Library for the Garden Club in New York, and was chosen as one of twelve Directors of the Garden Club of America, representing Zone IV, for New Jersey. Ann received the Zone IV Creative Leadership award from the Garden Club of America for exemplary leadership. She was also a member of the Green fingers Garden Club. Ann was one of the first Seton Associates, the lay associates for the sisters of charity of St. Elizabeth of New Jersey. She is survived by her daughter, Ann Convery Mora, of Los Angeles, California, and son, J. Ferd Convery III, of Lambertville, New Jersey; her two grandchildren, J. Ferd Convery IV of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Gordon Griffin Convery of Lambertville, New Jersey. She is also survived by her brother, William Allen Holcombe, of Carpentaria, California, and her sister, Mary Louise Tobish, of Newtown, Pennsylvania. She is further survived by nine nieces and nephews.A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. John the Evangelist Church, 44 Bridge St, Lambertville, New Jersey 08530 (609) 397-3350 at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 9th.
