Doris S.Groendyke Surrounded by loving family, and the Holy Spirit, Doris Ethel Stryker Groendyke, 93 and 361 days old, entered into God's Glory and Kingdom, Tuesday, March 6, 2018. Doris was born in New Brunswick, N.J. to Ethel and Henry Stryker. Doris met her husband, Bergen, while she was still in High School. Doris' family played games weekly with Bergen's Aunt and Uncle who boarded him while he worked for an accounting firm in New Brunswick. Shortly after Doris graduated from New Brunswick High School, Salutatorian, at 18 years old, she married C. Bergen Groendyke. Doris worked various jobs for ER Squibb in New Brunswick, WTTM Radio in Trenton, N.J. and as a bookkeeper and Payroll person for her husband's accounting firm,Groendyke and Company. Her life long labors of love were outside the paid work realm. Doris worked around the clock in Christian ministry, making significant contributions to evangelism, corporate worship, Bible teaching and study. Doris' Thanksgiving table was always set figuratively and literally every day of the year. There was an abundance of food, friendship, fellowship, compassion, transportation, ingenuity, shelter and the gospel of Jesus Christ that emanated from Doris' embrace. Doris' Christ-like and inspired love extended to her family, her friends, her family's friends, relatives and strangers alike. Doris was an instrument of peace in God's orchestra of earthly angels. Doris'adoring husband of more than 69 years, C. Bergen Groendyke, predeceased her in 2011. Doris is survived by her son, David Groendykeof Palm Coast, Florida, her daughters and her sons in laws, Faith and Ted Robak of Lawrence Twp., Ruth and Jon Brennfleck of Ewing, and Sharon and Jim Gladwin of West Windsor. Grandchildren include Lori RobakBaffuto, Teddy Robak (predeceased), Jon Andrew Brennfleck, Dr. Julie and Ben Gustafson, ReveGroendyke, Sara Gladwin, and Olivia Gladwin. Great grandchildren include Genna, Gabriel and Joseph Baffuto, Steven Robak, Ava and Bennett Gustafson and Jake Brennfleck. Visitation hours will be held Saturday, March 10, 2018at the Wm. Murphy Funeral Home, 935 Parkway Ave, in Ewing Twp., N.J. from 12:00 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. A Christian memorial service will be held promptly at 1:30 p.m. A reception will follow at the Grace Community Church of the Nazarene. A private interment will be at the First Presbyterian Church of Dutch Neck in Princeton Jct., N.J. Cemetery.
