    Edward Thomas Moore

    Edward Thomas Moore, 87, died peacefully on Monday at the Lawrenceville Nursing Home under the care of Compassionate Care Hospice.Born in Trenton, he lived most of his life in Ewing. He graduated from Trenton High School in 1943, after which he joined the US Navy; later transferring to the Marine Corps to serve in WWII. He was stationed in the Hawaiian Islands, Saipan, Tinian and Okinawa and fought in the Guadalcanal campaign in the Pacific Theatre. Upon returning home from the war, Ed attended Rider College in Lawrenceville, NJ. After graduating, he became a partner in Thorne-Moore Lumber Company in Trenton, NJ, followed by a career in pharmaceutical sales for the Fisher Stevens Company in North Jersey. He was a member of the Jr. Chamber of Commerce, The Trenton Club, American Legion and a trustee of the Boys Club of Trenton. In his later life, he was a dedicated volunteer at St. Lawrence Rehabilitation Center for many years.Ed enjoyed countless summers in Bay Head with his family; he loved traveling here and abroad, playing tennis, boating, the New York Times crossword puzzle and faithfully following his grandchildren’s many endeavors! He was a wonderful and loving father, a devoted husband, a doting grandfather and a true gentleman at heart.He was predeceased by his parents, Leo and Margaret Moore and his grandson, Edward Thomas III “Trey”. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Joyce Hill Moore; his son and daughter-in-law, Edward T. Jr. and Nancy Moore; his daughter and son-in-law, Jody and Jonathan Tobish; his beloved granddaughters, Samantha and Felicity and Liza Slauch and her husband Win; his sister, Patricia Petrangeli and her family, along with many other dear relatives and wonderful friends.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday 11am at St. Ann Church, 1253 Lawrenceville Road, Lawrenceville NJ. Burial will be private.The family will receive friends on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until time of mass at the church, under the direction of the M. William Murphy Funeral Home, 935 Parkway Ave., Ewing.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Red Cross ? Hurricane Sandy Relief, 575 East State Street, Trenton, NJ 08609 or to the Alzheimer's Assoc., Greater NJ Chapter, 400 Morris Ave., Suite 251, Denville, NJ 07834.
