    George Case

    George Case, 71, of Hamilton passed away on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at RWJUH @ Hamilton with his family by his side. Born on August 24, 1941 in Trenton, George grew up in Trenton and graduated from Trenton Central High School. He enlisted in the Army and was stationed in El Paso, TX. Upon discharge, he aimlessly engaged in numerous jobs until he found his career in law enforcement. He applied to the Trenton Police Dept. in 1968 during the riots but was turned away because of his height. Determined, he applied, was accepted and appointed as a police officer in the Human Services Police Dept. He graduated from the NJ State Police Academy in Sea Girt, NJ, where he earned college credits from Seton Hall University. He was a member of PBA Local 113 serving with distinction in several positions. He rose through the ranks as training officer, ID officer, detective, then promoted to sergeant, earning numerous awards and citations during his 30 years of dedicated service. He later served as chief of security with the Dept. of Corrections at the Whittlesey Rd. complex. An avid Harley man, he served as past president of the Centurions (law enforcement) Motorcycle Club, Trenton Chapter, initiating many rides for different charitable organizations. George was owner/ proprietor of George C’s Tavern in Trenton. He was well known for helping anyone in need, lending money to pay utility bills, rent or providing meals for anyone that came in his establishment hungry. Often times he would employ them in small odd jobs around the business.George encouraged anyone he knew to enter the field of law enforcement.Son of the late Donald and Mary Case, brother of the late Katherine Lear and Deloris Gernhardt, he is survived by his wife, Kathy (nee Leonard) Case and her children Kaitlyn and Kyle; his former wife Elaine & their children, Harry (Colleen) Case, George (Lori) Case , Tom (Lisa) Case and Brenda Zambito; his step children by a previous marriage to Bettylou Sabo; a sister, Marion Williams; a brother, Harry Case, many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. Cremation with burial at Washington Crossing National Cemetery with full military honors will be private and under the direction of the M. William Murphy Funeral Home 1863 Hamilton Ave. A gathering of friends and family to honor and celebrate his memory will be Thursday from 7 ? 10AM and 3pm until closing at George C’s Tavern
