    John Patrick McGann

    John Patrick McGann, 88, died October 29th at home in Pennington.Born in Trenton, John was a longtime Ewing resident before moving to Pennington.A graduate of Trenton Catholic Boys High School, he attended Central Michigan University.John was a United States Merchant Marine World War II veteran (Atlantic, Pacific and Mediterranean-Middle East War Zone Medals) and a United States Army veteran (Army of Occupation Medal Germany). He was a New Jersey State Trooper, member of the 43rd class and retired as a Major in 1982.He was a longtime daily communicant and Trustee at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church.Son of the late Thomas and Regina (Leadem) McGann, he was predeceased by his wife Kathryn (Sullivan), son Brian, brothers Thomas, Leo and Lawrence and sisters Regina Jones and Eileen Kandrac.John is survived by three sons and daughters in law, Terence (Melanie) of Woodstock, GA, Timothy (Susan) of Eastchester, NY and Brendan (Patricia) of Lawrenceville, NJ; two grandsons, Sean and Brian; one granddaughter, Caitlyn (Neal) Housworth; a sister in law, Betty Kennedy and many nieces and nephews.Memorial Mass will be celebrated Friday, November 6th, 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Good Counsel Roman Catholic Church, 137 W. Upper Ferry Road, Ewing NJ. The family will receive relatives and friends from 10:15 a.m. until time of the Mass at the church.Burial was private at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hamilton.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mount Carmel Guild (www.mtcarmelguild.org), 73 North Clinton Ave., Trenton, NJ 08609. Arrangements are by the M. William Murphy Funeral Home 935 Parkway Ave., Ewing.
