Joseph H. Priest, 95, of Ewing passed away Thursday at Compassionate Care at RWJUH ? Hamilton.Born in Trenton, he was a lifelong area resident.Mr. Priest was a network troubleshooter for NJ Bell for over 35 years before retiring in 1982.A graduate of Hamilton High School, he was an avid reader and had an unquenchable thirst for knowledge that lasted his entire life. He loved nature and sports, attending his grandchildren and great grandchildrens' sporting events.Mr. Priest was a “humble hero” of WWII, serving in the US Army and was awarded the Bronze Star.Son of the late Harry and Jane Hays Priest, husband of the late Mary Priest and brother of the late Vivian Warner, he is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Eileen and Charles Cregar of Pennington; 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Joseph and Judith Priest of Palm Beach County, FL, and John and Serena Priest of Ewing; 6 grandchildren, Cale Cregar, Misty (Daniel) Russo, Nicole (Scott) Newell, Damon (April) Priest, Marla Priest and Jordan Priest; 9 great grandchildren, Kailey, Brianna and Daniel Russo; C. J. Cregar; Cora and Evan Priest; Sarah Priest; Grayson and Amelia Newell; a niece, Jane (Ed) Brown of Hamilton, and his best friend, Don Toft.The family will receive friends on Monday from 9:30 until 11AM at the M. William Murphy Funeral Home, 935 Parkway Ave., Ewing. A Funeral Service will begin at 11AM with clergy from Incarnation Church officiating. Burial will follow in Ewing Church Cemetery, Ewing. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the charity of the donor’s choice.
