November 18, 1925 - July 26, 2018
Mary A. DeFrancesco, 92, of West Trenton, passed away peacefully at her daughter's home surrounded by her family on July 26th, 2018. Born in Trenton on November 18th, 1925, she was a lifelong resident of West Trenton. Mary married the love of her life, Daniel DeFrancesco on July 14th, 1946. During their marriage, Mary was devoted to her family and raising their four children, Daniel, Richard, Donna, and MaryAnn until her husband's death in 1971. After her husband's death, Mary's primary focus was raising her four children. As a single parent, she rejoined the workforce to support her family. She worked extremely hard and was responsible for her children graduating from college; a dream both she and her husband shared. Mary worked at Freddie's Tavern for over 30 years. She loved her job and enjoyed interacting with her customers and fellow employees. Mary was deeply saddened when she had to retire due to health issues. After her retirement, no matter where she went, (doctor's office, shopping, restaurants, Atlantic City...etc.) Mary was thrilled when people would walk up to her and ask, "Where do I know you from?" She would smile and reply, "Freddie's!" Mary especially loved preparing holiday dinners for her family. She lived for having her family together. Her greatest loves were her four grandchildren; Michael DeFrancesco, Madison DeFrancesco, Juliana DeFrancesco and Jace DeFrancesco. They brought her unending joy and she loved being in their presence. In her early years, Mary served as a committee woman for Ewing Township Municipality, President of the Ladies Auxiliary of the West Trenton Fire House, member of our Lady of Good Counsel Altar Rosary Society, and President of the Ladies Auxiliary for the Ewing little leagues and Babe Ruth league. Daughter of the late Antonio and Maria Carrozza Muscente, sister of late Nicole Muscente, Pasquale Muscente, Edith DeFrancesco, Louis Muscente, Jennie Ferri, Frances Ferri and Nicholas Muscente, Mary is survived by her four children and their spouses, Daniel and Lynda DeFrancesco, Richard and Elaine DeFrancesco, Donna and David Collins, and MaryAnn DeFrancesco. She was the proud Nana of Michael, Madison, Juliana, and Jace DeFrancesco; her sister, Philomena Muscente and sister-in-law, Maria Muscente. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to express their gratitude to the following individuals; first and foremost, Dr. Arthur Pacia for his years of medical service; Ms. Andrea Maglione, friend and hairdresser; Mrs. Dolores De Blasio, friend and Atlantic City buddy. Special thanks throughout this journey goes to Ms. Barbara Cacavio, Ms. Mulmuwork Alli, Fr. Michael Hall, and Mr. Harry Masterson, Jr. Last but not least, her fabulous team of experts from Compassionate Care Hospice, Miss Doris Childs, Miss Mary Spears, and Miss Elizabeth Lillo. Family will receive friends on Monday from 5p.m. to 8 p.m. at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 137 W. Upper Ferry Road, West Trenton New Jersey 08628. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Good Counsel Church followed by the interment at St Mary's Cemetery, Hamilton. Arrangements are under the direction of the Murphy Funeral Home, 935 Parkway Avenue, Ewing, NJ, 08618. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mary's name may be made to the DAV, 79 Clayton Ave., Mercerville, NJ 08619 www.dav.org or Compassionate Care Hospice, 261 Connecticut Drive, Suite 1, Burlington, NJ 08016.
