October 24, 1924 - January 7, 2021
Pauline Paulick of Powell, Ohio and formerly Ewing, New Jersey passed away on Thursday, January 7, 2021 at 96 years of age. After a long life well-lived she died peacefully after testing positive for Covid-19. Her mind was sharp until the end. She told her great grandchildren that her body was just wearing out from age and this was the cycle of life. Pauline grew up on a dairy farm in Carbondale, PA. Her family farm is now on its 4th generation. She graduated high school in 1942 and went to work in a dress factory until the Attack on Pearl Harbor changed everything. She was now making camouflage covers which turned out to be dummy decoy tanks, planes and jeeps in a top-secret mission that even she didn't know what they would be used for. In July 1949 she married Mike Paulick from Scranton, PA and moved from her family farm to New Jersey. Pauline remained true to her farm roots and always had vegetable and flower gardens. She loved her flowers especially Iris' and Gladiolas. She loved planting and was always digging in the dirt with the kids. Upon the death of her husband Mike in 2004 she moved to a suburb of Columbus, OH to live with her daughter, son-in-law and their two children. Pauline loved learning, and in her later years took up painting and learned how to use the computer. She would spend hours researching things on the Internet and was amazed at all the information she could find. She was always doing crossword puzzles and word games. She loved playing board games with both her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Our mom was a very calm, patient and non-judgmental person who was always looking out for her children. She brought much joy to our family for the last 16 years that she lived with us. She is preceded in death by her parents Stephen and Elizabeth Mizerak, her husband, Mike Paulick and her siblings: Stephen (Victoria) Mizerak, George (Mary) Mizerak and niece Debbie, Mary (John) Karhnak and niece Mary and Andy Mizerak. Also, her great nephews Rob Paulick and John Swistak as well as many of her husband's siblings. Pauline was the baby in her family and closes out that era of "The Greatest Generation." Pauline leaves behind her children: Karen (Mike) Byrnes of Powell, Ohio, Michael (Chris) Paulick of Collbran, Colorado, and Steven Paulick of Longmont, Colorado ex daughter-in-law Rosalba Paulick. Grandchildren: Michael Byrnes of Columbus, OH and Kathryn (Kris) McKinley of Grove City, Ohio. Great grandchildren: Cowen Cannon, Harper McKinley, Avah McKinley and Jaxon McKinley, and many loving nieces and nephews and their families. Pauline was universally loved by her family and everyone that knew her. We would like to thank Hospice and the people that assisted her at Riverside Hospital in her final days when we could not be with her. Pauline will be laid to rest on Friday Jan. 22 at 12:00 noon at Greenwood Cemetery, 1800 Hamilton Ave. Hamilton, NJ. There will be a 10:00 am viewing and service at Murphy Funeral Home, 935 Parkway Ave. Ewing, NJ before the burial. Masks are required and plans can change due to Covid. Rest in Peace Mom…We love you.
