Ford, Richard Alan, 75, of Toms River, NJ, passed away Sunday, August 16, 2020 after a long and hard battle with Parkinson's disease and Cancer. He was the loving husband of 48 yrs to Mary (Buck) Ford. He was born in Trenton in 1944 to the late Leon J. and Marguerite ( Maguire) Ford. Richard was a longtime resident of Hamilton before moving to Toms River in 1993. Richard was a 1st lieutenant in the US Army during the Vietnam War from 1967 to 1969 and was honorably discharge, receiving a bronze star and a purple heart. He was a systems analyst for NJ Bell/Verizon. He loved a good crossword puzzle and was an avid reader. He was the team manager of the Notre Dame H.S. football and basketball team while in high school. He also loved to watch football and basketball. Besides his wife, Mary, he is survived by his sister Rita Ford, his sister in laws and their spouses, as well as, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Visitation will be Thursday, August 20 from 5-8 pm at the Murphy Funeral Home, 1863 Hamilton Ave., Hamilton, NJ 08619. A funeral service will be Friday, August 21 at the funeral home. Interment will follow at St. Mary Cemetery, Hamilton. Please wear a mask if you intend to be at the services, and social distancing will be observed. www.murphyfh.com
