Shirley M Eleftherion

October 27, 1932 - June 17, 2017

Shirley Eleftherion (nee Pettis) of Yardley, PA passed away on June 17, 2017 at Country Meadows, Bethlehem, PA. Born in Reading, PA, she lived in Emmaus, PA prior to moving to Yardley in 1968. A graduate of Reading High School with high honors, she was office manager of the Department of Dairy Extension at Penn State University for several years. Mrs. Eleftherion was a member of the St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Hamilton Township, New Jersey where she taught Sunday school for a number of years. She was an active member of the church PTO and participated in the baking of Greek pastry in the annual church festivals. She was a member of the ladies auxiliary society (Philoptohos). She was also involved in scouting as a den mother for several years. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother dedicated to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Daughter of the late Louis and Cornelia Pettis and sister of the late Julia Pettis, loving and devoted wife of the late Michael Eleftherion, she is survived by a daughter, Elaine Bentson of Orefield, PA; two sons, Peter of Doylestown, PA and Craig of Bangkok, Thailand. In addition, she is survived by six grandchildren, Jennifer, Megan, Laurie, Michele, Andrew, and Caleigh; and also by her great-grandchildren, Landon, Blake and Dylan. Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing on Saturday from 10 to 11AM St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 1200 Klockner Road, Hamilton, NJ 08619. Funeral Service will begin at 11AM.
