Thomas G. Vlahos
October 3, 1927 - August 18, 2021
Thomas Vlahos, age 93, of Riverton, NJ passed away peacefully on August 18th, 2021 with his loving family by his side. Tom was born in Piraeus, Greece in 1927. He made his way to the United States at age 16 with modest means and a big heart and determination to succeed. It was here that he met the love of his life, Athena, whom he was dedicated to for 65 years and adored until the day he died. Tom loved his church, playing golf and above all, his family. He had a heart of gold, loved an audience, and was affectionately known as the mayor of Redstone Grill. Saying he had a successful career would be an understatement. He was a founding father of the St. George Greek Orthodox Church, President of AHEPA, President of the Riverton Rotary Club, did extensive charity work for the Deborah Heart and Lung Hospital, was a long time member of the Riverton Country Club and a successful businessman. However, Tom's greatest legacy and accomplishment he was most proud of was his close-knit family. He is survived by his son Dean Vlahos, daughter Colette Wood and her husband Kirby Wood, five grandchildren Alexis (Joseph), Christina (Michael), Deana (fiancé Gregory), Gabrielle and Gina, and five great grandchildren. Visitation will be on Monday, August 22nd from 10:00-11:00 am at St. George Greek Orthodox Church; Hamilton, NJ. A service will follow at 11:00, interment at Greenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make memorial donations to the St. George Greek Orthodox Church.
